Kundalini Freedom, 2009 - 2011 [série Turista Transcendental]
Kundalini deriva de uma palavra
em sânscrito que significa ‘serpente espiralada' e define a suposta energia
cósmica que transita entre os diferentes
chakras (centros energéticos) do nosso corpo físico, partindo
do primeiro, situado próximo à base da coluna e dos órgãos genitais, até
atingir o sétimo, localizado no topo da cabeça, produzindo uma profunda experiência
mística que leva o indivíduo à paz interior e à realização divina.
O interior da estátua da
Liberdade, em Nova York, esteve fechado ao público por oito anos, desde os
ataques terroristas de 11 de setembro de 2001, quando as torres gêmeas do World
Trade Center foram destruídas. Em 2003 foi liberada a subida até o pedestal, e
só a partir de 2009 o acesso à cabeça da estátua voltou a ser autorizado, de
forma controlada, limitada a poucas pessoas por dia e mediante reserva. A
subida até o topo se dá por uma escada em aço inox reluzente, em formato helicoidal,
idêntica à representação gráfica da energia Kundalini
.
O percurso de 335 degraus, por dentro da estátua da
Liberdade, de sua base até a coroa, foi gravado com uma pequena câmera de vídeo
na mão. Para realizar
Kundalini freedom,
a imagem do vídeo foi editada e colorizada conforme as cores atribuídas aos
chakras, do primeiro ao sétimo, na seguinte ordem: vermelho,
laranja, amarelo, verde, azul, violeta e rosa. Ao atingir o último
chakras, que corresponde ao topo da cabeça da estátua, a
paisagem que se vê através das janelas, localizadas na coroa, não tem foco,
como se tivesse perdido (ou talvez nunca tivesse tido...) toda e qualquer
importância, e o indivíduo se libertasse do mundo exterior no momento da
realização espiritual.

Kundalini Freedom, 2009 - 2011 [Transcendental Tourist series]
Kundalini derives from a Sanskrit word that means 'coiled
serpent.' It defines the cosmic energy that supposedly travels between the
different chakras (energy centers) in
our body, from the first, situated near the base of the spine and genitals, to
the seventh, located at the top of the head, producing a profound mystical
experience leading to inner peace and divine realization.
The interior of the
Statue of Liberty in New York was closed to the public for eight years after
the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, when the twin towers of the World
Trade Center were destroyed. In 2003, access to the base was reopened, and only
since 2009 has access to the head been reinstated, in a controlled manner,
limited to a few people per day, and by appointment. The climb to the top takes
place through a bright stainless steel staircase, shaped like a helix,
identical to the pictorial representation of Kundalini energy.
The journey of 335 steps, from base to crown, was recorded with a small
hand-held video camera. For Kundalini freedom, the video image was
edited and colorized using the colors assigned to the chakras, from first to seventh, in the following order: red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and pink. On reaching the last chakra, which corresponds to the crown
of the statue, the landscape, visible through the windows located at the crown,
appears unfocused, as if it had lost (or maybe never had...) any and all
importance, as if the individual were freed from the outside world at the
